The Department of Public Administration was established in the academic year 2012-13. It is the only Department in the state which offers an undergraduate course in Public Administration. This academic discipline is in its high developmental juncture on the international and national scenario. The Department is truthfully making its attempt to nourish the discipline in the state. The Department has a larger role to play as the discipline is still being at its developmental phase in Kerala. The M.A. Public Administration program was started in the Department in 2019-20. The subject matter of the discipline is very comprehensive, covering all aspects of the government. It entails the detailed study of the governmental machineries, Constitutions, Financial Administration, Personnel Management, Human Resource Management, Comparative Public Administration, Local Self-Government, Administrative theories, Political theories, issues in Administration and Politics, etc. The utility of the subject is extensive to different competitive examinations, particularly the Civil Service Examination. A good number of dedicated teachers with academic excellence had contributed to the development of the Department. Sociology and Computer Application are the complementary courses of Public Administration here.
The Department encourages its students to participate in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Seminars and workshops are often conducted to strengthen the calibre of students. The students themselves are encouraged to organize symposia and seminars. A number of national seminars and lectures were conducted under the auspices of the Department.
